    Wrong operations during the update process might cause data loss and the XLC4 control unit has to be returned to Chromasens.

    Contact Chromasens before starting a firmware update.

    NOTE - personal settings of the XLC4 control unit

    During the update process all saved settings get lost. Check the settings and take notes before starting the update process

    Requirements

    • The XLC4 control unit is connected via RS232 port. Ethernet or USB will not work.

    • The application “PIC32UBL.exe” is downloaded. Contact Chromasens support.

    • XLC4 Commander installed on the PC.

    Updating

    Erase old firmware

    1. Connect the XLC4 control unit via RS232 to the PC.

    2. Start XLC4 Commander and establish a connection with the XLC4 control unit.

    3. Type the command “UP” in the command line.

    4. Click Send.

    The old firmware is erased.

    Restart the XCL4 control unit

    1. Disconnect the XLC4 Commander.

    2. Switch off and on the XLC4 control unit.

    3. After start-up of the XLC4 control unit the yellow LED blinks.

    The bootloader is ready for loading the new firmware.

    Install the new firmware

    1. Start the application “PIC32UBL.exe”.

    1. Select the Com Port and click Connect.

    1. Click Load Hex File and select the “HEX”-file of the new firmware.

    1. Click Erase-Program-Verify.

    The download is started.

    1. Wait for the response “Verification successful”.

    1. Click Disconnect.

    1. Switch off and on the XLC4 control unit.

    2. Connect the XLC4 Commander with the XLC4 control unit.

    3. Use command VR to check the firmware release.
